  • Lump Charcoal. In this recipe, James used Kamado Joe's Big Block XL Lump Charcoal
  • Olive oil
  • Your favorite seasonings. For this recipe, James used these seasonings: Chili Lime Seasoning, a Sazón blend and Certified Creole BBQ Houston Salt n' Pepper Blend

    Fire up the Char-Griller AKORN® Jr. with lump charcoal to 400°. Use the Smokin' Stone insert to help offset the fire.

    Lather the whole chicken with olive oil for the binder and season it with Char-Griller Chili Lime Rub, Certified Creole BBQ Sazón blend, and Certified Creole BBQ Houston Salt n' Pepper Blend.



    • 1 Whole chicken, 5 to 6 pounds
    • Olive oil
    • Char-Griller Chili Lime Rub, to taste
    • Certified Creole BBQ Houston Salt n’ Pepper Blend, to taste
    • Certified Creole BBQ Sazón Seasoning Blend, to taste

    Place the seasoned chicken into the AKORN Jr. and cook until the breast section reaches internal temperature 165°F.
