Foil Packet Recipes for the Grill

We know, when you put things in a foil packet you don’t get those good grill marks. That being said, foil packets can be a huge lifesaver when it comes to getting dinner on the table quickly or turning a usually hard to grill food, into a masterpiece.

For the last few weeks, we’ve been experimenting with foil packet recipes. From simple dishes like nachos to more complex meals like short ribs, we tried a little bit of everything. Here are the top five recipes that made the cut through our testing.

1. Barbecue Chicken Foil Packets

Our Social Media Manager’s dad use to cook barbecued chicken in a foil pan on the grill. While she is pretty sure this was just to prevent a lot of messy cleanup, we adapted this recipe to make easy, moist and quick barbecued chicken. Perfect for a busy week night, this Barbecue Chicken Foil Packets recipe will give you all the barbecue taste you want with none of the hassle or cleanup.

2. Grilled Coconut Lime Shrimp Foil Packets

Whenever we’ve cooked shrimp, there is always at least one brave solider that is lost to the coals. Shrimp have a frustrating tendency to slip through the grates when you’re grilling them. (Pro-Tip: Putting them on skewers is a great hack. Easier to flip too.) Instead of worrying about shrimp falling to the coals, we decided to marinate them in a coconut lime sauce and throw them in a foil packet with a bunch of veggies. Cook the on the grill for a few minutes and you’ll have an easy and delicious dinner in no time!

3. Grilled Nacho Foil Packets

This was really where our whole foil packet idea stemmed from. We had some leftover rotisserie chicken and came across some recipe ideas for nachos. We shredded up that chicken, ran out and bought some nacho toppings and the rest is history. Easy to customize and perfect for game day, Grilled Nacho Foil Packets are a quick and fun meal for family and friends.

4. Foil Packet Short Ribs

As a company that introduced the barrel grill to mass market, we love going low and slow with our barbecue. That being said, we also know that sometimes, you don’t have time to babysit something for hours on end. This Foil Packet Short Ribs recipe allows you to get all that barbecue flavor and tender meat in half the time!

5. Foil Packet S’mores

While nothing will beat the original, this foil packet s’mores recipe is the great way to cap off a day of grilling. The best part? Everyone can customize their own s’more! From adding candy bars and peanut butter to adding bananas or chocolate hazelnut spread, everyone can make their own s’more and throw it on the top rack of the grill to slowly cook as the grill is cooling down.
