Flavor Pro: How to Light

The Char-Griller Flavor Pro runs on a standard 20-pound LP propane tank. You can find these at most hardware stores and gas stations. The propane tank hook-up is below the grill in the cabinet. The doors are great for concealing the unsightly propane tank.

You hook up the propane using the hose located on the left side of the grill. Make sure that the hose is securely attached to the regulator on the propane tank before turning the knob on the top of the propane tank to start the flow of gas.

Before turning on the gas, be sure that you have inserted the AA battery in the ignitor body as detailed on page B-17 of your Flavor Pro manual.

After the tank is secure and you have started the flow of gas, turn all the knobs on the Flavor Pro to high. Press the ignitor button for about 3 to 5 seconds. You will hear a series of clicks and then the gas should ignite.

If the gas does not ignite, turn off all the knobs, wait 5 minutes and repeat the lighting process again.

If this is your first use of your Flavor Pro, turn the knobs to medium and let the grill run for 30 to 40 minutes. This allows the vegetable oil from the factory to burn off and season the grill.

Once you have finished the seasoning process, you are ready to get cooking!

When you are preheating your grill, make sure to adjust the smokestack dampers on the top of the grill for optimal airflow. This is a feature that you don’t see on a lot of gas grills. Simply twist the top of the smokestack counterclockwise to open and clockwise to close.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to ALWAYS wear grilling gloves when you are adjusting the dampers as they will be hot to the touch.
