Mediterranean Lamb Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries

Why Choose Lamb Over Beef?

Opting for a lamb burger instead of traditional beef isn’t just a flavorful twist—it can also be a healthier choice. Lamb is naturally rich in essential nutrients like iron, zinc, and vitamin B12, which support energy levels and overall health. Compared to some cuts of beef, lamb can be leaner, especially when using ground lamb from leg cuts, offering a slightly lower fat content with heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Plus, lamb’s distinct, savory flavor means you may find yourself using less seasoning or sauce, letting the natural taste shine through.

Instructions

    Prep the Fries

  1. 01

Peel and slice sweet potatoes into your preferred fry shape

  2. 02

Place them in cold water for 1 hour to help remove starch and improve crispiness.

  3. 03

After soaking, drain and dry completely.

  4. Form and Season the Lamb Patties

  5. 04

Divide ground lamb into four ¼ lb patties.

  6. 05

Season both sides generously with Greek seasoning.

  7. Light the Grill

  8. 06

Fill a chimney with lump charcoal and light.

  9. 07

Once ready, pour the charcoal to one side of the kettle grill to create a two-zone setup (direct and indirect heat zones).

  10. Heat the Tallow

  11. 08

Place the beef tallow in a grill-safe pot over indirect heat and let it come up to 350°F for frying.

  12. Grill the Lamb Patties

  13. 09

Place the lamb patties directly over the coals.

  14. 10

Flip every minute until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F. Remove from the heat once cooked.

  15. 11

Briefly toast the burger buns over the coals for extra flavor.

  16.

  17. Fry the Sweet Potato Fries

  18. 12

Carefully lower small batches of fries into the hot tallow using tongs or a slotted spoon.

  19. 13

    Fry until golden and crispy.

  20. 14

Be cautious not to overcrowd the pot to avoid spilling tallow onto the coals.

  21. Build the Burgers

  22. 15

Spread 1 tbsp feta cheese on the bottom half of each bun.

  23. 16

Place the lamb patty on top.

  24. 17

Add a slice of tomato and cucumber slices.

  25. 18

Spread 1 tbsp tzatziki sauce on the top bun, then assemble and serve.

  26. Serve

  27. 19

Serve your Mediterranean lamb burgers hot alongside the crispy sweet potato fries. Enjoy!
