Adding wood to your grill can take your food to the next flavor level. Whether it is maple, cherry, hickory or mesquite, all of these woods can bring an enhanced taste to your food. Adding wood is fairly simple and can be done in these simple steps.
- Pre-soak wood chips for 35 minutes. Soak chunks for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the wood is completely saturated.
- After the grill has reached the desired temperature, sprinkle two handfuls of soaked wood chips or chunks over the lit charcoals. For more guidance of what wood you should use, see chart below.
- Allow the chips to smoke by closing the lid.
- You can begin cooking after a few minutes. More soaked chips may be added to the fire later if necessary.
NOTE: Wear grill gloves when adding wood.
