While you can either grill or bake this recipe, we recommend pulling out your Char-Griller charcoal grill. Grilling these Halloween Jalapeño Poppers takes the flavor to a whole new level, adding a delicious smoky flavor that you can't achieve in the oven. The open flame crisps the bacon to perfection while adding a subtle smokiness that complements the creamy cheese filling and spicy jalapeno.

It’s an easy way to elevate a classic party snack, making your Halloween gathering even more memorable with flavors that are bold, fun, and delicious.

Instructions

  1. 01

Heat your grill to medium-high heat, around 375°F to 400°F (190°C to 200°C). If you are using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are glowing and there is an even distribution of heat

  2. 02

While your grill is warming up, cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. This step is key if you want to control the heat of the poppers.

  3. 03

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  4. 04

Once your grill is warmed up, place 12 pieces of bacon onto the grill. Grill for 12 minutes, or until your bacon is fully cooked.

  5. 05

While your bacon is cooking, unroll the crescent dough sheet onto parchment paper. Cut dough lengthwise, each strip should be around 1/4 of an inch wide.

  6. 06

Lightly beat your egg to create an egg wash.

  7. 07

Once the bacon is cooked, cut the bacon into bits and add to the mixing bowl.

  8. 08

Fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture, ensuring the filling is even with the top of the jalapeño.

  9. 09

Wrap each jalapeno half with one crescent roll strip. Make sure to leave some space for the eyes!

  10. 10

Brush egg wash over the dough.

  11. 11

Place jalapeno poppers directly on the grill grates or in a grill safe dish. Grill for about 12-15 minutes or until the pastry is golden.

  12. 12

Wait for the jalapeno poppers to cool down and decorate! Add ketchup or sriracha for a blood effect. Add some google eyeball candy.

  13. 13

    Enjoy!
