Community Hero

Mark selflessly dedicates his time and energy to helping others through various service projects. As part of the Phi Kappa Theta San Antonio Area Alumni Association, he regularly participates in initiatives like the AniMeals program for Meals on Wheels, where he repackages donated pet food into smaller bags for homebound individuals. Additionally, Mark contributes to the Knights of Columbus Council 7983, assisting with tasks like setting up for events, including spending hours after a special Mass preparing the church hall and lawn.

A passionate griller, Mark relies on Char-Griller products, which fill his backyard. He’s also helped grill 500 chicken leg quarters and sausages for his church’s annual BBQ luncheon, despite the challenge of working with old, rusted grills. Mark admires how fellow Knights brought their modern grills, achieving similar output with less effort, showcasing the value of reliable equipment like the one you’re giving away.

Natural Disaster Relief

Maggie Grace is nominating her son, Tom, for his selfless acts of kindness in their southwest Florida community. In recent years, devastating hurricanes have left many neighbors and friends without electricity for days or even weeks. During these challenging times, Tom used his old Char-Griller to cook meals for those unable to prepare food for themselves, providing much-needed support and comfort to his community.

2023 Grill for Good Giveaway Winner

I am a burn survivor of 23 years now. 14 years ago I started a foundation that is called From Tragedy to Triumph Foundation. Our main goal is to offer college scholarships to young burn survivors. Since our foundation started 14 years ago we have awarded over 100 scholarships totaling $425,000.00. Every year we have a golf fundraiser to help support our foundation. We have raffles and what a great prize a Char-Griller would be.

2022 Winner of Char-Grillers's Grill for Good Giveaway

This year, I organized 8 camping trips for my son's elementary school. Taking kids and their families out to different areas of NY and teaching them how to camp and giving the kids a chance to bond outside of school. I organized the food, destination, packing lists and items needs by families. It was an amazing time, trying at times when 15-18 kids under 11 are screaming playfully, but amazing. The most amazing part was teaching the kids and parents how to cook over open fire, from breakfast to dinner, we did everything from prepare and cook chili, bake a cast iron cookie, to grill caught fish next to Crystal lake in the Catskills.

2021 Recipient

I partake in a group, Walk on Water Recovery where we take men and teens struggling with life altering addictions on a fishing retreat both in the summer and winter and take care of everything up on Lake of the Woods. All locals are welcomed to attend and come out and fish and meet the guys. We typically have 100-120 guys come up where friendships are made, fellowship happens, good food is ate, stories are shared, and a great time is had! This event means so much for the guys to get out and rejoice in their newfound way of life and to spread their stories to others.
