Grilled Pizza

  • 1 ball pizza dough, about 16 ounces, store bought or homemade
  • Canola Oil
  • Cornmeal
  • Pizza sauce, store bought or homemade
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Other toppings such as: fresh veggies, cooked & browned ground beef, pepperoni, mushrooms, ham, pineapple, cooked sausage, etc.
  1. Preheat the AKORN to approx. 300-degrees F. Place optional AKORN pizza stone on the grill and allow to warm.
  2. Roll out room-temperature dough on a floured surface to desired thickness (less than ~1/4-inch for thinner pizzas, more than ¼-inch for thicker crusts)
  3. Brush dough with canola oil and sprinkle with cornmeal.
  1. Place dough on pizza stone- or, if you don’t have a pizza stone, put directly on grates- and cook the first side for 3-5 minutes with lid open or until dough rises and edges begin to brown.
  2. Flip dough over and apply sauce and cheese. Add other desired toppings as appropriate. Close the grill lid and allow the pizza to bake until cheese bubbles and dough is cooked through.
  3. Remove pizza from grill and let rest for 3-5 minutes. To prevent soggy crusts, use a cookie cooling rack for the pizza to rest. Enjoy!
